Amendments proposed to the CPC of Ukraine threaten independence of the NABU and the SAPO and block their work

Adoption of amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, envisaged by the draft law No. 8336, eliminates disadvantages of the so-called "Lozovyi's amendments" regarding the appointment of expert assessments in virtually all proceedings, except those investigated by the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). In addition, the proposed initiatives can threaten the independence of the NABU and complicate the investigation of top-corruption crimes.

NABU and SAPO work jointly disregarding provocations — Artem Sytnyk

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) work as one team. Therefore, none of the provocations can negatively affect the work of the anti-corruption authorities. This was emphasized by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk at the Conference «Implementation of anti-corruption reforms in Ukraine: stock-taking event», which took place on March 22, 2018, in Brussels (Belgium).

Successful anti-corruption fight is impossible without the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Court — Artem Sytnyk

The success of the fight against corruption in Ukraine can be doubled if the Specialized Anti-Corruption Court is established. The later will endure sentences and fair punishment for the top-corrupt officials. This was emphasized by the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk at the presentation of the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2017, held on February 21, 2018, in Kyiv.
