Corruption in State Border Guard Service: new suspect
NABU and SAPO have notified the former deputy head of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine of suspicion. He currently serves as the Deputy Head of the SBGS Eastern Regional Directorate.
According to the investigation, in 2023–2024, the official acquired assets worth over UAH 11 million, the lawful origin of which is unsupported by any evidence.
The investigation suggests that a portion of these funds was used to purchase a Toyota RAV4 vehicle. NABU detectives discovered the remaining cash during a search of the official’s residence.
The suspect's actions fall under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illicit enrichment).
Earlier, in January 2026, NABU and SAPO exposed a group of individuals for systematically receiving undue benefits to facilitate the unhindered crossing of the state border.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
