$20,000 for commissioning a parking lot: lawyer suspected (PHOTOS)
NABU and SAPO have notified a lawyer — representing a construction company — of suspicion of offering a bribe to the First Deputy Head of the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Urban Planning (DIAM).
According to the investigation, the developer submitted an application to DIAM to commission a multi-level above-ground parking lot in Kyiv and issue a corresponding certificate.
However, during the inspection, DIAM representatives revealed gross violations that made the commissioning of the facility impossible.
Following the refusal to issue the certificate, the developer's representative (the lawyer) approached the First Deputy Head of DIAM, offering a USD 20,000 bribe in exchange for facilitating a positive decision without eliminating the identified violations.
The official, for her part, reported the criminal offense to NABU.
The actions of the suspect fall under Part 4 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
