False asset declaration: regional council head and MP exposed (PHOTO)
NABU and SAPO have notified the head of a regional council and his wife — an MP of the 9th convocation — of suspicion of submitting false asset declarations.
According to the investigation, the official and the MP failed to declare assets worth over UAH 8 million in their annual asset declarations for 2021–2023.
In addition, based on NABU materials, SAPO has filed a lawsuit seeking to recognize as unjustified and confiscate to the state the couple’s assets worth almost UAH 5 million.
Investigators established that between 2021 and 2024, the suspects acquired assets totaling nearly UAH 5 million without confirmed sources of income. Among the assets are payments for apartments and two Audi SQ8 cars (2021 and 2024 models).
The suspects’ actions fall under Part 2 Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
